What types of sessions do you offer?

We love shooting all sorts of beautiful people.  Learn more about our specific session types here.

How are sessions scheduled?

We schedule our outdoor sessions for either early morning/dawn or late afternoon/sunset to ensure the most lovely light.  A harsh vertical sun is not kind.

Plan on your photo session lasting up to 45-60 minutes. For newborn, lifestyle and dancer sessions I will shoot until I know I have what’s needed.  You can’t rush art— your time spent with me will be laid-back.

What should I wear?

I encourage my clients to wear clothes they feel their best in.  Avoid wearing all white, forego heavy accessories and keep patterns soft, simple and easy on the eye.  If we’re shooting multiple people, do coordinate your outfits and palette to create harmony in your images, but avoid getting too “matchy-matchy”.  If you would like help in choosing colors and styles, feel free to shoot me an email.

In general, the time allotted for a session does not allow for wardrobe changes (graduate sessions and dance sessions do allow for limited wardrobe changes).  If clothing changes are important to you, know that any time you spend changing your outfit is less time we have to shoot with beautiful light.  Be prepared to change quickly, under improvised circumstances.

dancer3How should I plan my makeup?

We’ll be shooting in natural light, so plan to put on your makeup using natural light if at all possible.  Keep your makeup fresh and similar to what you would wear day-to-day; you want to look like yourself during your shoot.  Do use a light dusting of powder to set your makeup and avoid shine, and make sure you bring your makeup essentials with you to your session for any necessary touchups.

What should I bring?

We’ll be very much on the move during your session, so don’t plan on bringing more than you can easily carry with you.  In general, you won’t need much–plan on bringing your makeup (especially lipgloss or lip balm), a hairbrush and/or a comb, and blotting papers.  In the hot Florida sun, men and women alike need blotting papers–these are easily found in any drugstore.  Both men and women will also want to keep lipgloss or lip balm handy.

I’m a dancer.  Can you shoot images for my portfolio?

Absolutely!  I love working with dancers, and will happily plan a portfolio session with you.  We also offer photography for dance companies, including documenting repertoire, creating marketing images, headshots, and more.  Shoot us an email so that we can discuss your specific project.

How do newborn sessions work?

Newborn shoots take place in your family home. I will need to take the photographs in a room with plenty of natural light. I also like to take images in the baby’s nursery and on your bed.  Babies set the pace for the session–I will continue to take photos between feedings and diaper changes and take advantage of  sweet, yummy shots while your baby is sleeping.  Documenting you and loved ones in and around your home is a beautiful way to tell your unique story.

What if I need to reschedule?

Your session appointment time has been reserved just for you. Deposits are not refundable for sessions that are cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours of the scheduled time, outside of true emergencies.

If it is raining — no worries, we will reschedule!

If it is simply too gray out to get natural light for a lifestyle shoot in your house— we will reschedule.

If there is an illness or family emergency— we will reschedule as soon as we can!

Can we do my session on the water?

Absolutely!  We adore coastal and intra-coastal sessions.  Email us for a custom quote.

How does payment work?

Session rates are listed here.  A minimum deposit of $75 is required to reserve your session appointment time, with the balance due in full at time of session. Deposits are non-refundable. Checks should be made out to Heather Lehman, and we are able to accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express for a fee of 3.5%.  Any additional images, prints or editing services after your session must be paid before delivery of add-ons.  We’ll ask you to sign a “Model Release Agreement” at the time of your session, which is basically you giving us permission to take your photo and agreeing that you are aware that we own the copyright to the art we create for you.  Once we have the paperwork out of the way, we can get started.

What is your turnaround time?

Our turnaround time to carefully edit your images is 2-3 weeks.  Sometimes we get lucky and your images will be ready sooner, but we will always take the time needed to complete your project beautifully.  In a time crunch?  Rush orders are sometimes available for an additional fee.

Do you provide prints?

Lisbet Photography strives to remain as paper-free as possible by allowing our clients to purchase high-resolution, digital images from their photo session.  All receipts, print releases and other paperwork will be delivered via email.  Our consumer-level, print labs of choice are and  We highly encourage our clients to print their images— don’t allow your digital images to languish on your computer.

Do I need a release to get my photos printed?

A reputable lab will always ask for a release from your photographer before they will print your professional images.  When you make your final selections (or purchase additional photos), you will automatically receive a letter from Heather granting you a release to print your photos at the lab of your choice and to share your photos on social media.  While a credit to Lisbet Photography/Heather Lehman is not required when you share on social media, it is much appreciated.

If you wish to submit your photos for publication, online or other contests, etc, please email us — you will need an additional release, and photo credits are strictly required.
